Terms of Use

These conditions apply whenever someone browses the site, reads its material, or submits a query through a displayed tool. Using Ellis County Criminal History means accepting every term below. A visitor who does not agree should discontinue use.

NO FCRA USE. Ellis County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. This site and its advertising partners do not provide services for employment, credit, tenant, insurance, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource directs visitors to public criminal-record sources in Ellis County and Texas. It is neither a private-investigation service nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site is independent of all government offices. It does not keep official criminal records, retrieve them on demand, perform official checks, or submit filings for visitors.

Its material identifies custodians of Ellis County records, including the sheriff, court clerks, Texas DPS, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also display tools supplied by outside companies.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on avoiding the following conduct:

  • Violating federal, Texas, or local law through use of the site
  • Harassing, stalking, intimidating, or threatening another person
  • Using site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempting unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Deploying bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfering with service performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information obtained here or through a linked tool may be used to stalk, threaten, harass, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 62 governs the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry and its public-safety purpose. Registry data never authorizes vigilantism, harassment, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination, and misuse may violate the law.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Ellis County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and creates no credit report, consumer report, or background-check product. Advertising partners are not presented as services for applicant, renter, insurance, or credit screening. Information from the site or any linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a tenant or housing application
  • Set insurance terms or assess credit
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally authorized check for a regulated purpose must come from Texas DPS or another provider that complies with the FCRA and the law governing that purpose.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Texas attorney can assess how an Ellis County charge, warrant, conviction, expunction, or nondisclosure rule applies to a specific person.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No promise is made that:

  • Information will always be complete, accurate, or current
  • Service will remain available without interruption
  • Pages will contain no defect, error, or security weakness
  • A partner tool will return complete or correct results

Charges, dispositions, access restrictions, and agency procedures can change. Gaps and delays are therefore possible. Nothing published here is an official statement by an Ellis County court, the sheriff, Texas DPS, or another public body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government portals, legal resources, or private search providers. Those destinations control their own content, availability, pricing, and data practices. We accept no responsibility for an outside service, so review its terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, code, graphics, and logos belong to Ellis County Criminal History or the applicable content partner. They may not be copied, modified, distributed, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss or damage caused by use of the site, reliance on its material, or interaction with a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, and proceedings arising from that user's conduct or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from site use must be brought in a court located in Texas. Texas Government Code Chapters 552 and 411 govern public-information and criminal-history access from public custodians but do not turn this private site into a government records office.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A new version becomes effective when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
